The short version
Follow the instructions for your specific request and account; there is no single upload route for every IRCC application.
An IRCC request can ask for new information or documents while an application is being processed. The useful first step is to read the exact request together with its official instructions. This page helps you organize that reading. It does not decide which evidence is sufficient, whether you qualify for a programme or what immigration strategy to follow.
Extract three things from the request
IRCC’s official guidance says a request tells you what is needed, how to submit it and how much time you have. Copy those three items into a private checklist, keeping the original wording and page or account-message reference.
Distinguish a request from IRCC from an update you want to send on your own initiative. The official page links to different instructions for unsolicited new information. Do not reuse an instruction from a different application simply because it looks similar.
Use the account or route specified
IRCC has several accounts and submission methods. Its guidance describes account uploads, a web form and other routes in particular circumstances. Confirm which one applies to the message you received; do not assume that a button in another account is interchangeable.
Check the current file and submission instructions in the actual account or official guide. Do not compress, combine or label a document based only on a general AI suggestion if the request gives different instructions. This guide deliberately does not publish a universal file-size rule.
Check whether submission is complete
Some account flows distinguish uploading a file from submitting it. Follow every step in the official instructions and keep the confirmation available to you. A file displayed on screen does not by itself prove that the final submission step has occurred.
If the request is unclear, something is missing or you cannot provide an item, consult the official page’s current questions, technical-issue and extension instructions. Do not assume that asking for more time automatically changes a deadline. Get qualified immigration advice for case-specific decisions.
Fictional reading example
A made-up message asks for a document through a named account. The reader records the document wording, named account and required-by date, then checks the official steps for that account. The checklist does not guess which alternative evidence IRCC will accept.
Your checklist
- Save the exact request privately
- List requested items without inventing substitutes
- Check the named account or submission route
- Verify the stated time and instructions
- Keep final submission confirmation
